Sprinkles Cupcakes, Beverly Hills most famous ‘Midnight Snack’, is celebrating ten years of success next month by giving away a free cupcake to every customer April 13!

The sweetly beloved confections made their debut ten years ago when originators Candace and Charles Nelson first opened their crazy cupcake store in Beverly Hills.

The Nelsons experienced disbelief from potential landlords when first told of their concept for a shop that sold only cupcakes. Having not yet reached the pinnacle of appreciation, the lowly batter bread had been relegated to a bottom rung on the proverbial bakery ladder.

Not until the Nelsons spun their own cupcake-magic spell did people take the tiny cakes seriously, a move that has become the stuff of legend. Their first day, the couple were out of Sprinkles Cupcakes in mere hours. The rest, as they say, is history.

Today Sprinkles has 17 domestic locations and two international ones. In 2012 the company launched Sprinkles Ice Cream and Cookies. And let us not neglect to mention the much-vaulted and appreciated late-night relief of a Cupcake ATM for the desperate.

In 2005, the Red Velvet Cake was unknown on the West Coast. The Nelsons brought their Southern classic to Beverly Hills and – well, find someone today who has not heard of it. Bet you can’t!

Sprinkles has sold 25,000,000 cupcakes worldwide since 2005, and it all started right in Beverly Hills!

From an afterthought cup-sized treatment for extra cake batter, the lowly cupcake has been elevated to a great art among craftsmen. Thank Candace for making cupcakes Haute Cuisine!

Copycats abound – and some are excellent. In fact, let there always be one more truly fantastic family recipe for a marvelous cupcake! But Sprinkles was here first, and Beverly Hills loves them for it!And many agree – they do it best!

To celebrate, besides giving away free cupcakes, Beverly Hills (soon-to-be) Mayor Julian Gold will be on hand for a ten-year ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 13 at 10 a.m.. Following that Sprinkles is debuting the Sprinkle, the cheery birthday cake loaded with rainbow sprinkles!

That’s a sweet treat for our new Mayor!

Candace Nelson will be present at the Beverly Hills store from 9-10 a.m.; at Downtown LA from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and at The Grove from 4-5 p.m.
