Newman Wins Los Robles Summer Championship

Josh Newman, a Beverly High sophomore shot a four-over-par 74 to win the 14-15-year-old division of the Los Robles Summer Championship.
Royce Ryu, of Beverly Hills, tied for fourth place at eight-over-par.
The event, which was held Aug. 13, at the Los Robles Green Golf Course in Thousand Oaks, was sponsored by the Southern California PGA Junior Tour.
Newman’s win came after his tie for 32nd place on Aug. 5 in the 50th Annual Lee Hammil Memorial at Los Coyotes Country Club in Buena Park. He shot a two round total of 22-over-par (166), which tied him with fellow Beverly High golfer Dillion Curtis plus-22, 166).
Brian Song, of Beverly Hills, shot a four-over-par 148 to capture fifth place. Newman is the son of Jason Newman, Beverly High’s girls’ and boys’ golf coach.
