Friends Of The IDF Gala Raises $2 Million For Israel’s Soldiers
Nearly 1,000 people filled the International Ballroom of The Beverly Hilton last week to honor Israel’s soldiers at the Friends of the Israel Defense Fund Gala.
Among those were Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Los Angels Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa who joined gala Chairs Cheryl and Haim Saban to praise Israel’s soldiers for ensuring Israel’s security, the safety of Jews throughout the world, and their contribution to the war on terror.
They thanked 30 combat soldiers in attendance that evening, each of whom had lost a father or sibling to war.
The gala raised $2 million to support a variety of programs that support Israel’s soldiers.
Gala co-chairs included Adele and Beny Alagem, Robin and Elliott Broidy, Ruth and Leo David, Danny Dimbort and Avi Lerner, Erika Glazer, Vera and Paul Guerin, Nathalie and Maurice Marciano, Soraya and Younes Nazarian, Fela and David Shapell, Victoria and Ron Simms, and Lila and David Wiener.
Comedian, actor, and author Paul Reiser served as emcee.
The program also included a live auction of a week stay at a private villa in Acapulco, use of a private jet, a premiere vacation in Cabo San Lucas via private jet, diamond earrings, and a private dinner catered by Wolfgang Puck.
The gala’s grand finale was entertainment by Grammy-winner and impresario David Foster and performances by Katherine McPhee, Ishtar Alabina, Charice, and Lionel Richie.
