Norman Golf Team Continues Its Winning Streak
“We’re doing well,” says Norman golf coach Jason Newman of the season so far.
The golf team played Culver City last last month in two nine-hole matches at Alondra Country Club in Lawndale.
The Normans won both days with 192-248 on Tuesday, March 24 led by Colton Knedler, who shot a 3 under-par 33 and Kristof Sebesteny, with a 1 under-par 35.
That same week, the team outshot Santa Monica at Brentwood Country Club, 215-238.
“On a windy day that was a difficult one for golf, we were led by Mario Clemens who shot a 3 over-par 39,” Newman said.
“It was a great score for that day.”
Earlier this month the team took part in the L.A. City Junior Golf Tournament, sponsored by that city”s parks and recreation department.
The team fielded players in the A and the Championship flights.
Clemens placed third in the tournament’s Championship flight, shooting a 74, 68 and 66 at the Wilson and Harding municipal golf courses in Griffith Park.
In the same flight, Brian Song shot, 75, 74 and 74.
Josh Newman placed third in A flight play with scores of 76, 75, and 69 at the Sepulveda Golf Complex in Encino.
On Tuesday the team defeated North Torrance at Victoria Lakes in Oxnard. The Normans won 193-208 led by Knedler and Clemens wo both shor 3 under-pars 33s.
The second part of the North Torrance match was Thursday at Rancho Park. The Norman were again victorious winning 182-204. Newman shot a 1 under-par 34 and Knelder had an even-par 35.
