UPDATED 062609- The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has accepted the case of Michael Jackson from UCLA Medical Center. The pop star’s body was delivered to the Coroner’s facility via Air 5 helicopter of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. The case will be examined by the Coroner’s office Friday morning, which will involve a full autopsy including toxicological examinations. Coroner’s investigators have been conducting a thorough examination of the Holmby Hills mansion and collecting any potential evidence. While the autopsy is expected to be completed Friday, the toxicology exams can take up to 6-8 weeks which are pertinent to cause of death determination. The Coroner’s office has coordinated with the Sheriff’s Department, and the Los Angeles Police Department to provide escort and security services while the examination is underway. The Coroner’s office has briefed all its staff regarding security of the body, building security,and media policy issues.
