Los Angeles Alzheimer’s Association Seeks Reception, Telephone Volunteers
The Alzheimer’s Association is seeking volunteers to help with reception and telephones at its 5900 Wilshire Blvd. office.
“Reception is an important part of what we do,” says Judy Wunsch, director of volunteers.
“This is often the first voice our families hear and the first person they meet, so a warm, welcoming presence is vital. Our volunteers set their own schedules and range in age from 39 to 99. They enjoy camaraderie with other volunteers,” Wunsch said.
The Alzheimer’s Association also is looking for help with data entry, filing, making copies, and maintaining the Lasman Family Library.
In addition, it maintains a toll-free Helpline where people can call for information and support.
The association trains volunteers to answer these calls and provide information and referral services. Currently, demand for Alzheimer’s information and services exceeds volunteer enrollment.
The Alzheimer’s Association, California Southland chapter, is the leading donor-supported health organization committed to research, care and support for those living with Alz-heimer’s disease and their families.
