Carolyn Leonhart Carolyn Leonhart: One Hot Jazz Singer!
Carolyn Leonhart is maybe not a name you know. But it will be soon. Carolyn has been a big name on the jazz scene for years and has been touring with legendary rock group STEELY DAN for over a decade, but it’s her new album “Tides Of Yesterday” that’s really causing a buzz to build for “Lady C” as she’s known in Jazz circles in her native town of New York.
Carolyn looks like Cindy Crawford’s kid sister, which is surely an advantage, and has her being compared to Diana Krall often, the “other Glam Jazz singer” who is known for both looks and her talent. Carolyn is a truly gifted vocalist and famed Gossip Columnist Liz Smith recently praised Carolyn’s new CD in her column calling it “Classic Jazz updated.”
Carolyn partners with her husband, sax man Wayne Escoffery, on the new album and even co-wrote several of the songs herself, including the amazingly powerful title track. “There’s something for everyone on this album” remarked Carolyn recently. Classic show tunes like “Never Never Land” from Peter Pan are here, as are standards like Richard Rogers “The Sweetest Sounds” and Steely Dan lead singer Donald Fagen contributes “Big Noise, New York” which is one of his solo songs, which Carolyn gives her own spin to.

Hal is a Beverly Hills based publicist who is attempting to take Carolyn Leonhart to “New Heights, Outside of just the pure jazz circle, where she is already known.” Hal has high hopes for his new client and after hearing her new album, so do we!
