By Amanda Peabody

A 32-year-old man was arrested for assaulting a transient in the Whole Foods Beverly Hills parking garage Sunday.

North Hollywood resident Gustavo Menjivar-Gutierrez wielded a large knife, described by some as a “machete,” and inflicted several wounds on the victim. He then fled the scene.

Beverly Hills Police Department arrested Menjivar-Gutierrez Monday.

“The incident was the result of an on-going conflict between the two individuals,” said Lt. Mark Rosen of BHPD.

Menjivar-Guiterrez was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threat, both felonies.

The victim was treated for wounds at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center, but later released.
