Detectives today were looking for a gunman who fatally shot a motorist in Hollywood, and two police officers who responded and crashed their patrol car were recovering from minor to moderate injuries.
David Suarez, 20, of Hollywood, was driving south on St. Andrews Place north of Santa Monica Boulevard at about 3 p.m. Tuesday when somebody shot him, police said.
Suarez’s car crashed into a pole but no one else was injured in the shooting or crash, police said.
Suarez was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:26 p.m., police said.
Authorities were looking for the shooting suspect, who was said to be in a four-door, dark gray or green sedan, a Los Angeles police sergeant said today.
Two police officers responding to the shooting crashed their patrol car with several vehicles at Santa Monica and Van Ness Avenue, several blocks west of the shooting, police said.
The officers in the crash were taken to a hospital.
