Halloween Revellers Close Down Hollywood Boulevard

The Halloween eve crowds swelled to such numbers at closing time for the nightspots on Hollywood Boulevard that police shut down vehicle traffic on part of that busy street for nearly two hours, a Los Angeles police sergeant said.

The crowds who left the three dozen nightclubs and assorted parties in that area were wearing costumes, said Sergeant Chuck Slater, a watch commander at Hollywood Division.

The mass of people became so congested, it was necessary to close Hollywood Boulevard between Cahuenga Boulevard and Highland Avenue until nearly 4 a.m. to aid in crowd control, he said.“
