BHHS Performing Arts Presents Fiddler on the Roof Next Week


A company of more than 100, including a 50-member student orchestra, returns one of the world’s most beloved musicals to Beverly High as the Performing Arts Department presents Fiddler On The Roof.

The Tony-winner for “best musical” as well as for book, score, direction and choreography, makes a triumphant return to BHHS at 2 p.m., April 6 and 7:30 p.m., April 7-9.

Based on Sholem Aleichem’s Tevye And His Daughters, Fiddler On The Roof, by Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein, is a touching, and human window on life in a small Russian village in the early 20th Century.

The musical features some of the most famous Broadway songs including Sunrise, Sunset, Matchmaker and If I Were A Rich Man.

This year’s spring musical is directed by Herb Hall and produced by Josh Butchart. Joel Pressman is music director/ conductor, Brian Michael, accompanist and Janet Roston and Erin Zaruba choreographers. Annie Terry is technical director/set and lighting designer, and Kristie Rutledge the costume designer.

Students have been deeply involved with every aspect of the production from designing and building sets to creating and building sets to creating costumes, and overseeing the technical aspects of the show. KBEV staff, film and television classes are creating a feature-length documentary about the production and BHHS history, English and Hebrew classes will discuss the musical’s subject matter.

Tickets are $6 for the Wednesday matinee. For all other performances, tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and $25 for “VIP ”seats in the first eight rows.
