‘The Hangover: Part II’ Earns $103.4 Million Between Friday And Monday
Despite so-so reviews, The Hangover: Part II powered its way to the top of the box office over the holiday weekend, earning $103.4 million between Friday and Monday, according to final figures released today.
With $85.9 million in box-office receipts between Friday and Sunday, the comedy sequel bested The Simpsons Movie to claim the title of best comedy debut and beat Sex and the City for best R-rated comedy debut, according to Hollywood.Com Box-Office.
Since its release on Thursday, The Hangover: Part II has earned more than $135 million domestically. According to Warner Bros., the film has collected more than $200 million worldwide.
The 3-D animated feature Kung Fu Panda 2 debuted in second place, collecting $60.9 million domestically between Friday and Monday, according to Hollywood.Com.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides earned $50 million to claim the third spot.
The comedy Bridesmaids continued its powerful run at the box office with $20.7 million in ticket sales over the long holiday weekend.
The mythological adventure Thor earned another $12.1 million.
Rounding out the top 10 at the box office over the extended weekend were Fast Five ($7.9 million); Midnight in Paris ($2.5 million); Rio ($2.4 million); Jumping the Broom ($2.4 million); and Something Borrowed ($2.3 million).
