The Courier Welcomes Custom Comfort Mattress To Its Family Of Advertisers
Custom Comfort Mattress’s new location on Beverly Blvd., just west of Robertson, brings a quarter-century of California craftsmanship to West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
Custom Comfort Mattress not only manufactures its mattresses entirely in Southern California from organic and natural materials; it’s one of the few companies to provide double-sided construction across nearly its entire line – ensuring that its customers benefit from optimal support and durability.
The West Hollywood store introduces a new element to the business: a designer program through which Custom Comfort Mattress works closely with interior designers; ensuring that their clients’ bedrooms are designed for both aesthetics and comfort.
Co-founder Mel Trudell says, “Our mattresses are built to last seventeen to twenty years of actual use, whereas the industry standard is only around four to six years. Most people will spend a third of their lives on a mattress. We believe that the care that goes into the construction of your mattress should reflect the amount of use it sees – and the effects it has on your overall health and quality of life.”
Brothers Mel and Martin Trudell, the founders of Custom Comfort Mattress, are an inspiring California success story.
Truly self-made, they first made their mark in Orange County with a series of “David vs. Goliath” ads, which pitted their new mattress company against the established brands.
Born into a family with ten children, Mel and Martin had helped make ends meet by working in a small mattress factory.
They learned the mattress business from the inside – with Mel gravitating towards the manufacturing side, and Martin honing his skills in sales.
When they realized they could make a better product than the company for which they were working, they saved enough to buy a mattress sewing machine – and their business was born in their garage, then moved to a small space in Santa Ana.
Two years later, they opened their first storefront in Mission Viejo.
Custom Comfort Mattress employs a production team of craftsmen with an average tenure of over eleven years working with the company.
Each mattress is constructed with time-proven techniques, with five different collections tailored to provide varying degrees of firmness across a range of materials.
Over time, Custom Comfort Mattress has grown to seven sales locations across the Southland, and has been increasing sales year over year despite the recession.
In addition to West Hollywood, their newest store is in Pasadena – with another one slated to open in August in Brea. They also have locations in Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, Fullerton, Orange and Huntington Beach.
The new store locations showcase their mattresses in sleek, modern showrooms with warm, naturalistic lighting that echoes the human and environmentally friendly qualities of their products.
Custom Comfort Mattress’s marketing has progressed beyond the “upstart” messaging of their early ads to focus on the craftsmanship and California heritage aspects of their brand.
This July 4th, Custom Comfort Mattress is inviting anyone who would like a chance to celebrate summer on the comfort of an organic, double-sided mattress to visit www.facebook.com/customcomfortmattress.
Visitors who tell Custom Comfort Mattress how a good night’s sleep will make them feel “more independent” will have a chance to win a $3000 custom-built mattress.
They can rest easy knowing they’re not just sleeping on an environmentally friendly product, but one built to the highest standards of care and comfort.
