Southbound I-405 To Be Closed For Construction

A stretch of the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Sunset Boulevard will be closed just after midnight tonight to accommodate construction work on the Sunset bridge over the roadway.

From about midnight until 5 a.m., the southbound freeway will be closed from the Sunset off-ramp to Wilshire Boulevard. The Sunset bridge itself will close at 10 p.m. and reopen at 6 a.m. Thursday.

Construction crews will begin blocking off freeway lanes at 10 p.m. Once the freeway stretch is closed, traffic will be diverted onto Sepulveda Boulevard.

Motorists on Sunset will be detoured on Church Lane, Sepulveda Boulevard and Sepulveda Way.

During the closure, construction crews will be pouring a portion of the deck for the rebuilt Sunset bridge. The work is part of the roughly $1 billion Sepulveda Pass Improvements Project.
