Nominations to be Announced Tonight for 54th Grammy Awards

Nominations will be announced tonight for the 54th annual Grammy Awards, with the announcement being made for the fourth time during a star-studded concert in downtown Los Angeles that will be aired live on the East Coast but tape-delayed locally.
The number of Grammy categories was cut from 109 last year to 78 this year, as The Recording Academy looks to streamline the awards show. But no matter how many categories there are, British songstress Adele will likely be nominated in a bunch of them.
The former best-new-artist Grammy winner is considered a strong favorite to land nominations in the top categories in song, album and record of the year for her album “21” and hit track “Rolling in the Deep.”
Other artists with strong buzz going into the nominations announcement include country-music sensation Taylor Swift, with her album “Speak Now”; Grammy favorite Lady Gaga for her album “Born This Way”; Kanye West with “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”; and Nicki Minaj for “Pink Friday.”
Katy Perry could also find herself among the nominees for best song and record of the year for her smash hit “Firework.”
The nominations will be announced during an hourlong concert at the Nokia Theatre. Among the performers during the televised special will be Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Jason Aldean, Lupe Fiasco, Sugarland, the Band Perry, Common, Grandmaster Flash and Ludacris.
The concert, hosted by LL Cool J, will begin at 7 p.m., but will not be televised until 10 p.m. on the West Coast.
The Grammy Awards will be presented Feb. 12 at Staples Center.
