Golda Berkman Featured In Dream Orchestra’s Debut Concert

Beverly Hills own Golda Berkman will be featured in the Dream Orchestra’s 2014 season opening concert, sponsored by Urth Caffé, Saturday, Jan. 25 at UC Irvine’s Barclay Theater, 4242 Campus Dr.
Maestro Daniel Suk will conduct the concert which features Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, From the New World.
Fourteen-year-old soprano Berkman, presented “Most Accomplished Young Opera Singer” by acclaimed baritone Vladimir Chernov, will sing Chi il Bel Sogno di Doretta from Puccini’s La Rondine and The Hopes and Dreams Medley.
Pianist Hai-Kyung Suh—the first female pianist to record complete Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky concertos – (Deutsche Grammophon 2010/2011) will play Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2.
Since Suh is a cancer survivor—having undergone eight chemotherapy treatments, surgery and 33 radio therapies—the concert is co-sponsored by the American Cancer Society and all musicians will wear pink ribbons to represent cancer awareness and survivors who will be honored at the concert.
Urth Caffé, which will open in Laguna Beach in 2014, will provide each guest with complimentary package of fresh-roasted, whole-bean organic coffee or fine tea.
The Dream Orchestra is a “coming together” of musicians from LA Opera, LA Phil and leading orchestras from around the world.
