Keystone XL Oil Pipeline – State Dept. Reports No Significant Environmental Impact
The United States State Department says they have no major environmental objections to the construction of the Keystone XL Oil Pipeline. The findings overcome a significant hurdle in the completion of the $7 billion project and are sure to rankle environmentalists.
The pipeline has been a major talking point in the debate over climate change. Many Democratic supporters and environmental groups are opposed to the project.
The pipeline would carry oil from Western Canada to Nebraska, carrying more than 800,000 barrels of crude oil a day to refineries in Texas.
