SiliconBeachClearly: Negroni Week Is On
This second-annual event celebrates the famed Italian cocktail. A Negroni is typically equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. It can be served on the rocks or up. However, expect some additional twists on tradition for the purposes of this weeklong event. Since it’s sponsored by Campari, don’t expect that key ingredient to be compromised. More than 20 Los Angeles-area mixology bars will participating in Negroni Week from June 2-8.
Among the bars on the list are critical darling Allumette (a last hurrah of sorts, since it will be closing shop in late June), downtown’s dance club/cocktail lounge Honeycut, and West L.A./Beverly Hills adjacent Italian stalwart Sotto. We also suggest hitting the Varnish, a speakeasy-style bar discreetly hidden in the back of Cole’s French Dip for Negroni shots (a first, even for us).
A percentage of each Negroni sold during the event will benefit a charity designated by the bar itself. Plus, Campari will kick in $10,000 to the top-selling establishment. That’s pretty sweet. For a full list of participating locations and their charities, visit the official website.
And even if you don’t happen to be in town during Negroni Week, there are more than 1,000 total bars involved in the project, all over the country and all over the world.
