SiliconBeachClearly: 5 Hockey Bars for LA Kings Stanley Cup Action

The LA Kings Stanley Cup run continues. After defeating the 2013 champion Chicago Blackhawks, they face off June 4 (5 p.m.) at Staples Center against the New York Rangers in Game 1 of the finals. Tickets are hard to come by, but you can still support the team by visiting these five hockey bars for Los Angeles Kings fans.

North End Bar & Grill
This Hermosa Beach hot spot is a haven for Kings players, who have not only been known to hang out here, but the fans are so supportive that, in tribute, it was the first place the team brought the Stanley Cup after its big win in 2012.

Redondo Beach Cafe
From the name, you’d never know this was a serious hockey bar. Unless, of course, you came during the NHL playoffs and wanted to watch something other than hockey. Opened by a pair of brothers from Montreal, from a country where hockey is more akin to a religion than a sport, it’s what they describe as a “hockey-first” kind of place. Other sports are fine, but don’t mess with hockey. And despite the owners’ roots, this is by and large a Kings’ bar.

Hooters DTLA
The official home of the LA Kings Ice Crew (think of them as cheerleaders with shovels) is none other than the “delightfully tacky, yet unrefined” Owl-themed (yeah, right) institution’s branch across from the Staples Center.

Yard House
The slogan here during Kings home games ought to be “if you’re not going inside Staples Center, and you’re not going to Hooters across the street (and you really love beer), you should be here.” Indeed, the Long Beach-based chain has an impressive set up at L.A. Live.

Baja Sharkeez
No matter the sport, Baja Sharkeez is one of L.A.’s best sports bars. And you have to hand it to them for getting behind all of our local teams. Right now, Kings fever is in full force at this South Bay favorite. Expect no less than 60 flat-screen TVs with surround sound, plus drink specials during the games, like $3 pints of Bud, $3 fireball shots, and $4 vodka and Red Bulls.
