The Purple Line Westside Extension, projected to run beneath Beverly Hills High School, may have a design/build contractor soon, bringing the project that much closer to a reality. On July 7, Metro staff submitted their recommendations to the Metro board; Skanska, Traylor Bros, and J.F. Shea, a Joint Venture (STS).
The Board will be voting on the design/build phase contractors in the next three weeks. The Construction Committee is set to review the recommendations on July 17.
The Purple Line Extension project includes twin subway tunnels between Koreatown and Beverly Hills, with three underground stops at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
The First Phase is scheduled to be completed by october 2024. The Purple Line is then expected to extend to Century City and the Veterans Hospital in Westwood.
In total there will be seven stops added to the Purple Line between Koreatown and Westwood.
