Ashley Boone celebrated 104 years on June 20 at a party hosted by Belmont Village Hollywood Hills.
The father of four, grandfather of six, and great-grandfather to six celebrated with family and friends. Boone moved to Belmont Village four years ago according to Tom Park, executive director, and has been thriving. “Everyone is curious to about his secret to a long life‚” said Park. “His reply is simply to live a healthy life without cigarettes or alcohol. And, I reckon he may be onto something.”
The Celebration Family Theater performed vignettes of Boone’s life from childhood to the 1980s. There was a lot of ground to cover—starting with childhood memories and then when he met his first sweetheart and married —to vignettes of later life when he moved to Los Angeles in the 1980s.
Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti and City Councilman LaBonge presented Boone with proclamations to mark the date.
Daughter Cheryl Boone Isaacs said, “Dad is always in great spirits and is in good health. He enjoys drives around Los Angeles, from the beach to the mountains and especially loves the views from Griffith Observatory. His secret to a long life is moderation in all things and good genes don’t hurt.”
Mr. Boone added, “My life has been great and I look forward to each and every day.”
