Beverly Hills High School may soon say farewell to Principal Carter Paysinger at the end of the school year when his two-year contract expires in June. Earlier today, the Beverly Hills Unified School District posted a Request for Proposal to hire a search firm to oversee its efforts to hire a new principal to helm BHHS. Paysinger, who filed suit last year against the BHUSD for alleged discrimination, was informed that he was welcome to apply for the position he has held since 2010.
“As we recently found out in [Paysinger’s] New York Times bestselling book (Where A Man Stands), there wasn’t a process to hire [him as] the principal,” Board of Education President Brian Goldberg said. “Given that we’re in Program Improvement, I feel it’s really important to find the best person.”
Responses to the school district’s RFP to hire a national search firm are due Feb. 17 with the expectation that the principal will be selected by July 2015.
Goldberg said it was important to notify Paysinger that the district was launching a search for a new principal now instead of waiting until March 15, when the BHUSD must send out notices.
The Board of Education will hold a formal board meeting tonight at 7 p.m., during which Paysinger will present his monthly update on his plan to lead the school out of Program Improvement status.
