Kids need to learn to save money.
This lost art was being promoted among 9-11 -year-olds at the Saban Theatre Sunday with the help of Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse and Vice Mayor Julian Gold. They joined California-based rock group Gooding and actress/singer Katherine McPhee to help kids understand the importance of economic literacy.
They were all there to help Katherine McPhee and the co-author Lisa Detanna read Lisa’s new children’s book Treasures in the Winter Vault, a powerful lesson in saving for the future.
Gooding is currently touring high schools in North America to spread the word on financial literacy through rock and roll, and sharing their own life lessons. This band is full on, incredible professional artists – and pure heart when it comes to sharing their passion for helping our youth get off to a great financial start. The band has just finished a round of successful dates in Canada.
The free event also awarded some lucky ticket holders a drawing for their own $25 savings bonds and the lucky winner received an iPad. The sell out crowd were treated to In ‘N Out Burgers from their mobile trucks, as well.
The event was certainly a crowd-pleaser, and a wonderful way to inspire youngsters to save, not spend, and to think towards the future.
