Former Board of Education President Mel Spitz and Measure E Citizens Oversight Committee member Isabel Hacker became the first candidates to file their nomination papers for the Nov. 3 Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education election. Both candidates filed their papers yesterday at the L.A. County Registrar Recorder’s officer, on the first day they were eligible to pull papers.
Former Beverly Hills High School co-athletic director Jason Newman pulled papers today, but has yet to file.
There are three seats up for grabs in the upcoming election when terms end for Board President Brian Goldberg and board members Lewis Hall and Noah Margo. Goldberg and Margo have both announced their intention to run for re-election, but have yet to pull papers. Both have told The Courier they plan to file this week.
Hall has yet to confirm if he plans to run for a second term. Former Beverly Hills High School Principal Carter Paysinger previously announced his intention to run, but has yet to pull papers. Paysinger’s attorney Reed Aljian confirmed that his client still intends to run for a seat on the Board of Education.
