Beverly Hills News – City Council Elects New Mayor, Vice Mayor

The Beverly Hills City Council has elected a new mayor and vice mayor in a unanimous vote at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Vice Mayor John Mirisch will be installed as mayor on March 16 at the installation ceremony to be held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The installation ceremony is free and open to the public.

Mirisch was elected to the council in 2009 and again in 2013. He served as mayor in 2013. Krasne was elected to City Council in 2007 and again in 2013. She served as mayor in 2010. 

The five members of the City Council are elected at-large to four-year terms and the mayor and vice-mayor are elected annually but the councilmembers.

The mayor is the spokesperson for the City Council at all public functions,  and serves as the presiding officer at all City Council meetings.
