Varon has been waiting to be adopted since Dec. 1, 2015, at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. A 7-year old black and tan mix of Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Rhodesian Ridgeback, he is an awesome dog. He is about 70 pounds. Do you want to go see him? He is available at the shelter at 11361 West Pico Blvd. Los Angeles CA 90064. Call 888-452-7381 and ask for ID#A11o4110.

If you are looking for a kitty, check out little Dalhia, ID#A1619332. She is a beautiful Domestic Shorthair with tortie markings. She is about 7 years old and weighs in at a lithe 9 pounds. Her green eyes are just looking for someone to love. She, too, is at the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.

These and many more wonderful animals that need re-homing, adoption, fostering, donations and volunteers – are waiting for you at

We are also featuring another West LA area animal rescue: “creatureKind” is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded with the purpose of helping to make the world a better place for animals, especially those we have domesticated and have a responsibility toward. The organization, “endeavors to bring more awareness to the underlying issues which lead to unnecessary suffering and death for millions of dogs and cats every year, not just through rescue of animal in need, but through programs which help educate, encourage and provide incentives for positive change.”

Here are a few of their little honeys:

Most people don’t want to entertain the thought that they might pre-decease their pets, or simply no longer be in a position to care for them. As a non-profit organization, helping animals in need, it is not uncommon to come across heart-breaking stories like this one:

LOLLIE & FEFI, are a mother & daughter duo with a very sweet bond, who ended up at the Castaic shelter, when their Mom’s terminal illness progressed to the stage where her husband could no longer care for them all and with no family to help out, was forced to give them up. For 6-weeks, this bonded duo sat in separate kennels at the shelter, kept alive by the determined efforts of volunteers who saw how special they were.

A week ago, we took the girls into our care, and placed them in a foster home, where they immediately made friends with the resident dog and cat. LOLLIE is 7-yrs old, her daughter, FEFI is 5-yrs old. Weighing in at about 45 lbs, we think they are maybe Cattle Dog mixed with a smaller terrier, but whatever the mix, they are simply lovely dogs who we obviously want to keep together. They are calm, easy going, very affectionate dogs who will smother you with kisses and snuggle up next to you. House- and leash-trained and fully vetted, both dogs are in need of dentals, which creatureKind will take care of prior to adoption.

Everyone who meets KENNY falls for his charms, says he should be a therapy dog, would adopt him if they could ! He really is that special, and we know there is an equally special home out there for him. Kenny is one of 30 dogs creatureKind rescued from a community clinic, where dogs had been abandoned for no good reason, and ended up living kenneled for as long as 3 years. All of them are truly wonderful dogs, without any issues – just filled with so much gratitude to finally have a chance to enjoy the good life again.

If you are looking for a best friend, a loving companion who will look at you with soulful eyes, who is house-trained and obedience trained, and loves car rides; a dog that is 2 1/2 yrs old and weighs 60 lbs; a dog who loves other dogs regardless of size, who adores children and loves to play and go for walks… Then – you really should meet this wonderful dog!

Can you say cute as a button and not much bigger! Meet BRANDON, a toy poodle (or maybe a lamb!) who was found as a stray dog, limping on the street. The vet thinks he was probably hit by a car, and although he suffered no broken bones, other than his little tail, some nerve damage exists. That means he does not have full control of his bladder right now. He still looks adorable in his little belly band, which just stops any dribbling that may occur. Yes, Brandon is a ’special needs’ dog – so he is lucky that he is also a sweetheart, through and through. This dog is pure love and such a good boy. He is 5 yrs old and in good health, other than a little incontinence. We are looking for a special angel to give him a loving home.
