Beverly Hills News – City to Hold Resident Outreach Meeting on Burton Way Median Thursday
Posted: Wednesday, September 14, 2016 – 5:40 PM
The City of Beverly Hills will hold a Community Meeting to discuss the redesign of the Burton Way Median Thursday, Sept. 15, 7-9 p.m. at City Hall in the Municipal Gallery.
Proposals include strategies that would implement sustainable policies to protect public health and preserve the Ballona Creek and Santa Monica Bay by creating a Green Street.
The Burton Way Median is being redesigned to become a water-efficient swale that will reduce pollutants from urban runoff, including trash metals and toxic chemicals. The new design captures and filters runoff in the bioswale that will capture runoff water and filter it before it travels to the ocean.
The City is seeking input from residents to redesign Burton Way Median to achieve permit compliance and beautify the City.
The City of Beverly Hills adopted a Green Streets Policy in June 2015 as a means of implementing sustainable policies of the Federal Clean Water Act (CWA).
