Posted: Monday, October 24, 2016 – 2:33 PM
The City of Beverly Hills is partnering with the Consulate General of Israel Los Angeles to bring the first annual Hummus Festival to the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market at 9 a.m. on Oct. 30.
The idea was to partner together and bring an Israel-related fun, family-oriented event. Activities will include music, dancing, food, photo booths and a 3-D Virtual Travel to Israel.
“There really is no criteria to the hummus making except that it has to be made locally,” said Community Services Communication Manager Dana Beeson. “The common ingredient is typically garbanzo beans or chickpeas, but if someone came forward with some unique recipe without this ingredient, we would consider it.”
Mayor John Mirisch and Consul General of Israel Los Angeles, Sam Grundwerg will be two of the judges.
All prizes are courtesy of Mickey Fine Pharmacy & Grill. Gift Certificates will be for the following value: Best Hummus – First Place, $200, Second Place, $100 and Third Place, $50.
Applications may be obtained at www.beverlyhills.org/farmersmarket and must be returned by Oct. 25. Entry’s should be emailed to hummus@mickeyfine,com
