Posted: Friday, February 17, 2017 – 5:54 PM
In today’s modern world, resilience—the ability to adapt well to stress, adversity and anxiety—is paramount for children and adults, says Dr. Daniel J. Siegel.
The acclaimed psychiatrist, executive director of the Mindsight Institute, and author of three New York Times bestselling books, The Whole-Brain Child, No-Drama Discipline and Brainstorm, will offer insights on the topic in his talk, “Developing a Resilient Mind in Children” from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23 at The Willows Community School, 8509 Higuera St., Culver City.
Siegel offers practical evidence-based ideas that make complicated scientific concepts clear and exciting. His approach highlights a collaborative journey to bring more kindness, compassion and resilience into the world. As Siegel states, “As parents become more aware and emotionally healthy, their children reap the rewards and move toward health as well. That means that integrating and cultivating your own brain is one of the most loving and generous gifts you can give your children.”
Siegel received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his post-graduate medical education at UCLA with training in pediatrics and child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. He is also a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and recipient of several honorary fellowships.
His psychotherapy practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.
He is the author of numerous articles, chapters, and books. His latest book is Mind: A Journey To The Heart Of Being Human. For more information, visit www.dr.dansiegel.com.
