Beverly Hills News – BHPD Release Details of Arrest in Sexual Assault by Phony Ride Service Driver

The Beverly Hills Police Department released details of an arrest May 20 in connection with a sexual assault by a man posing as a rideshare driver in Beverly Hills.
“On May 13, 2017, Beverly Hills police received a report of a sexual assault. The suspect in that case, posing as a ride service driver, picked up a female passenger in the City of West Hollywood. The victim believed the suspect was the legitimate ride service driver she had requested. The suspect drove a short distance before he pulled over in the City of Beverly Hills and assaulted the victim,” said the release.
Beverly Hills police detectives conducted an investigation that led to an arrest May 20. The suspect was placed under surveillance and was ultimately identified by police. The suspect is 40-year-old Carlos Omar Pichinte from Los angeles.
Pichinte was booked on the primary charge of rape (261(a)(1)), in addition to other felony charges. He is being held and his bail was set at $1,350,000. He is scheduled to appear in court August 3.
Since his arrest, BHPD detectives have been conducting an active investigation and believe Pichente may be connected to additional sexual assaults in the Los Angeles area.
When arrested, he was driving a silver 2015 4-door Kia Rio.
