A house fire in the 100-block of N. Doheny Drive broke the stillness of Sunday morning with the swift arrival of several emergency fire and police vehicles to knock it down swiftly.
The home caught fire as a result of an apparent accident caused by tree trimming.
A palm frond that fell on the roof of the home came in contact with an electrical wire and started the blaze in the attic.
Homeowner Eric Ting said that he was home alone working. He smelled the smoke and called for assistance. He reports that help arrived very quickly.
It is unclear who hired the tree trimmers.
Both LAFD and BHFD responded to the house fire.
The response team included both LAFD and BHFD, said Joseph Matsch, Battalion Chief. A West Hollywood unit was already in the area, leaving another fire, when the call came in. They were first to arrive. They were immediately followed by teams from BHFD.
The fire started in the attack, which Matsch said is complicated. Fire crews must enter through the ceiling below and the roof above. The house will be under observation for hotspots through the next 24-hours.
