“Fifty Shades Freed” opened in the top spot on the domestic box office list this weekend with $38.5 million in ticket sales, according to final industry figures released Monday.

The third and final installment in the “Fifty Shades” trilogy opened with less money than its predecessors, however. One year ago, “Fifty Shades Darker” opened with $46.6 million in sales, and the first film in the series, “Fifty Shades of Grey” had a massive $85.2 million Valentine’s debut in 2015.

For moviegoers who wanted a little less steam, “Peter Rabbit” hippity-hopped its way to an impressive $25 million opening weekend performance for second place, according to comScore.

Clint Eastwood’s “The 15:17 To Paris” opened with $12.5 million to take third place.

In its eighth week of exhibition, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” was in fourth place with a $10 million weekend. It has taken in $365.8 million in North America.

“The Greatest Showman,” starring Hugh Jackman, was in fifth place with $6.4 million.

Rounding out the top ten films in theaters in the United States and Canada for the Friday-Sunday period were “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” ($6.2 million), “Winchester” ($5.2 million), “The Post” ($3.6 million), “The Shape of Water” ($3.1 million), and “Den of Thieves” ($2.9 million).
