Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli will once again address the public and anxious parents regarding Beverly Hills Unified School District’s security in the wake of the Florida school shootings at tonight’s Beverly Hills City Council meeting at a Special Meeting called by Mayor Lili Bosse. The Special Meeting will take place prior to the Formal City Council meeting, at 7 p.m.
Spagnoli will talk about the facts on school safety and how a well-prepared Beverly Hills Police Department will handle emergencies on school campuses.
At last week’s Town Hall Meeting with police, anxious parents expressed their deep fears that a school shooter like the one in Florida could harm their children. Proposals from parents included arming teachers, metal detectors, enclosing schools, adding School Resource Officers, more police presence, and a variety of other very emotional manifestations of their very real fears that such an event could occur at BHUSD schools.
With her team of officers, Spagnoli outlined a comprehensive plan designed in partnership with BHUSD to handle a school shooter or any other such event. Spagnoli will again address parents and the City Council with plans made in a strategic alliance between the schools and the BHPD at 7 pm tonight in City Hall, Council Chambers.
