The critically acclaimed “Crazy Rich Asians” romanced its way to the top of the North American box office in its debut weekend, out-dueling a prehistoric shark, according to final figures released Monday.

The romantic comedy with an all-Asian cast collected $26.5 million between Friday and Sunday to lead the way at theaters, according to box-office tracker comScore. That was good enough to top “The Meg,” which earned $21.1 million.

Mark Wahlberg’s action film “Mile 22” debuted in third place with $13.7 million, putting it just ahead of another action flick, Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible — Fallout,” which earned $10.8 million.

The canine-focused adventure “Alpha” opened in fifth place, earning $10.4 million over the weekend.

Rounding out the top 10 films of the weekend were “Disney’s Christopher Robin” with $8.9 million; “BlacKkKlansman” ($7.4 million); “Slender Man” ($4.8 million); “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” ($3.8 million); and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go again” ($3.4 million).
