Federal Judge Set To Hear BHUSD’s Latest Gambit Against Metro Tuesday

On Monday, Beverly Hills Unified School District is slated to get another shot in court to stymie a planned subway tunnel under Beverly Hills High School, where it must traverse scores of abandoned oil wells and pockets of methane gas.
U.S. Federal Judge George Wu, who previously ruled that the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) acted in an “arbitrary and capricious manner” with respect to the environmental effects of tunneling under BHHS in order to reach the Constellation station in Century City, is set to preside over a status conference between the school district and the FTA at 10 a.m. 8:30 a.m. in federal court.
