`Aquaman’ Dominates Weekend Box Office

Warner Bros.’ “Aquaman” debuted as the most popular film at the box office this holiday weekend, taking in an estimated $67.4 million Friday through Sunday at theaters in the United States and Canada, according to industry figures released Sunday.

“Mary Poppins Returns” debuted in a distant second place with an estimated $22.2 million.

“Bumblebee” — the latest installment in the “Transformers” franchise — debuted in third with $21 million, “Spider-Man: Into The Spider- Verse” was fourth with $16.7 million, and Clint Eastwood’s “The Mule” was fifth with $9.3 million.

Rounding out the top 10 releases, as estimated by the studios and reported by Comscore, were “Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch” ($8.1 million), “Second Act” ($6.5 million), “Ralph Breaks The Internet” ($4.6 million), “Welcome To Marwen” ($2.3 million) and “Mary Queen Of Scots” ($2.2 million).
