Advisory: Street Closures Coming Sunday For Golden Globe Awards

The first major event of Hollywood’s awards season will be held Sunday when the Golden Globes are presented at the Beverly Hilton, and motorists should anticipate road closures throughout the weekend near the hotel.

Beverly Hills police said they will be stepping up security for the event, deploying additional staff and utilizing “the latest technology” to ensure an incident-free event.

Motorists and residents should anticipate street closures and parking restrictions beginning early Saturday morning. According to police and city officials, the following closures are planned:

– North Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed westbound from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East from 5 a.m. Saturday through 4 a.m. Monday. Eastbound lanes in the same stretch will be closed from 2 p.m. Saturday through 4 a.m. Monday.

– Wilshire Boulevard will be closed westbound from South Santa Monica Boulevard to Beverly Glen Boulevard from 7 a.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday. Eastbound lanes in the same stretch will be closed from 7 a.m. Sunday through 1 a.m. Monday, with local access preserved for residents in the 10200 to 10300 blocks of Wilshire Boulevard.

– North and southbound Whittier Drive will be closed between Wilshire and Sunset boulevards, with local access to residents only from 7 a.m. Sunday through 1 a.m. Monday. Officials note that all north-south streets east of Bedford Drive will remain open.

– Northbound Trenton Drive will be closed at Wilshire Boulevard from 7 a.m. Sunday through 1 a.m. Monday. Motorists will be able to access Trenton via Elevado Avenue.

– Carmelita/Elevado/Lomitas avenues will have a limited closure on Walden Drive with local access to residents from 7 a.m. Sunday through 1 a.m. Monday.

Parking will be prohibited from 6 a.m. to midnight Sunday on Whittier Drive between Wilshire and Sunset boulevards and on Greenway Drive from Sunset Boulevard to Whittier Drive.

Parking will be limited to resident vehicles with a permit from 6 a.m. to midnight Sunday on:

– Carmelita Avenue from Wilshire to Walden Drive;

– Lomitas Avenue from Whittier Drive to Walden Drive;

– Elevado Avenue from Wilshire to Walden Drive;

– Trenton Drive from Whittier Drive to Wilshire; and

– Walden Drive from Santa Monica Boulevard to Whittier Drive.

The Golden Globes ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday.
