"Chronicle" Debuts on Top of Box Office

The supernatural thriller "Chronicle" debuted atop the North American box office over the weekend, barely edging out a horror tale starring "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe, according to final figures released today.

"Chronicle" earned $22 million between Friday and Sunday, while Radcliffe's "The Woman in Black" finished a close second with $20.9 million, according to Hollywood.Com Box-Office.

Liam Neeson's thriller "The Grey" placed third with $9.3 million, just ahead of the debut of "Big Miracle," the story of efforts to rescue whales trapped in ice in the Arctic Circle.

The vampire sequel "Underworld Awakening" snared fifth place with $5.5 million.

Rounding out the top 10 films were "One For The Money" ($5.2 million); "Red Tails" ($4.7 million); "The Descendants" ($4.6 million); "Man On A Ledge" ($4.3 million), and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" ($3.8 million).
