Shooting Standoff in Mid-Wilshire Area

(CNS) Posted 02/06/2012– 4:10pm

A man was shot in the upper body near a BMW dealership in the mid-Wilshire area this afternoon, precipitating an hour-long standoff that ended when a sharpshooter team swarmed the suspect.

The shooting occurred near Mansfield Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard at 1:45 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Gregory Baek.

The unidentified victim was taken to a hospital, but it did not appear that his condition was life-threatening, Baek said.

The circumstances of the shooting were still being sorted out, Baek said.
