Beverly Hills News – Acro Yoga Draws Crowd for Yoga With the Mayor

Mayor Lili Bosse and Acro Yoga devotees were joined by a crowd of exuberant fans Sunday at Beverly Canon Gardens for a free, outdoor Yoga with the Mayor Sunday, bringing together all of the elements of the Mayor’s #BHHealthyCity in one great event.

Residents and friends joined the team of Travis Brewer & Leah Russell to perform asanas (positions) that encourage connection and cooperative work, pairing partners to share movement and experience community within the asanas. Participants were enthusiastic about their experience.

Acro Yoga is a system of yogic asanas that are designed to bring people together, following the practice’s philosophy. Arco Yoga is the practice of using yoga to elevate through movement and connection, and was founded in 2003 by Jason Nemer and Jenny Sauer-Klein with three main elements: Solar Acrobatic Practices to cultivate trust, empowerment and joy; Lunar Therapeutic Practices that cultivate listening, compassion and letting go; and Yogic Practices that cultivate breath awareness, life balance and connection.

Acro Yoga certainly merits the SOUL stamp of approval – SOUL is the acronym for Seeking Other Unique Learning – in conjunction with Bosse’s mission to promote all forms of health; Body, Mind and Soul, as well as a healthy business community – which is truly being nourished with the BOLD initiative, acronym for Businesses Open Later Days.

If you missed the evening Walk with the Mayor Thursday and the Yoga with the Mayor on Sunday, you can still come to the Farmers’ Market for a great opportunity to participate. As part of her BOLD celebration, Mayor Bosse will be leading participants on a bike ride Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. at the west end of the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market.

Parking is located in the parking structure next to the library and is free until 2 p.m. Sunday. You will have time to enjoy the ride – and to shop for delicious fresh farm produce, as well.
