Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse will have a surprise guest Monday to illuminate a stellar Walk with the Mayor when artist Ed Massey joins the group Monday in anticipation of the installation of Neon Nights. Walk with the Mayor will visit iconic Burberry of London on Rodeo Drive, and welcome Alfred’s, Beverly Hills’ newest coffee hang-out!
“Monday Walk with the Mayor AND Massey,” said Bosse on Facebook. “Kicing off BOLD, Artist Ed Massey will be walking with us as we Go BOLD with fabulous stops at the new, hip, cool Alfred’s Coffee and wonderful Burberry Boutique! C U Monday, 8:30 a.m., City Hall, Crescent side.”
Burberry on Rodeo Drive is the magnificent new home of the brand’s flagship store. It boasts the largest Burberry product line in Los Angeles, including fragrances and accessories for the legendary couture. Find limited-edition evening wear, ready-to-wear and the trench coat that started it all. It’s all there.
Alfred’s Coffee & Kitchen opened in Beverly Hills less than two weeks ago, and it is already a huge hit among residents and guests. This fine coffee establishment is located in the old Jacopo’s Pizza location at Santa Monica and Beverly Drive. The shop has been decorated to make it a cozy, warm and welcoming place for Stumptown beans. Try their coffee and never go back to the ordinary – and their fabulous food offerings are organic and healthy. (Tip: The Breakfast Burritos – Hmmm-GOOD!).
Wednesday, artist Ed Massey (who grew up in Beverly Hills) and Mayor Bosse will kick off the Mayor’s BOLD (Businesses Open Later Days) initiative with the interactive placement of hundreds brightly-painted neon discs in the Lily Pond. Many of the discs were painted at the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market last Sunday by a huge cadre of BH volunteers of all ages who delighted in participating in this event.
The discs will be illuminated with eye-popping black light technology and volunteers will be offering 3-D glasses to enhance the experience! The event is free to the public and begins at 8 p.m. at the Beverly Gardens Park Lily Pond between Beverly and Canon Drive.
Massey and brother Bernie are the co-founders of Portraits of Hope, a non-profit organization that uses art and visual imagery for social impact, fostering community through collaboration and creating art installations as community projects that lift spirits and raise awareness.
Massey hopes to repurpose the discs after the installation for his LA Animal Shelter project; brightening up the Carson Animal Shelter with these discs and art installations throughout the network of Los Angeles’ shelters. Carson is the second project; Massey has completed his first shelter installation at the Agoura Animal Shelter.
Join the Walk with the Mayor is part of the Mayor’s #BHHealthyCity initiative, to make Beverly Hills the nation’s healthiest city in body, soul and business. Take a lesson in Government 101, and enjoy a casual walk with the City’s highest elected official; explore new businesses and meet neighbors and colleagues along the way.
Beverly Hills Walk with the Mayor meets every Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. on the Crescent steps of City Hall. Everyone is invited to walk with Mayor Lili Bosse, who says, “Monday is my favorite day!”
