The Beverly Hills City Council will interview all 24 applicants for the seat vacated by Dr. Willie Brien Tuesday, ending with the expected selection of a candidate to fill out the term.
The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall at 11 a.m. and is open to the public. It will also be televised, as a normal City Council meeting.
The council has taken every step to ensure that the proceedings are transparent and open to the public. “Its a proxy for an election, which could not have taken place until November,” said Mayor John Mirisch.
The candidates’ order for the interviews were selected by random drawing, televised and witnessed, in the office of City Clerk Byron Pope.
The meeting will begin with public comments. Each candidate will then be given three minutes for an opening statement, and asked three identical questions by the council. Then they will be asked followup questions.
Here is a link to the candidates applications.
