A program that could help some people receive discounts on their automobile insurance is being offered to those 55 years old and up through the City of Beverly Hills.

The AARP Safe Driver Program is being offered at Roxbury Park Community Center in two parts from 1-5 p.m. beginning on March 8 and ending on March 12.

The program will help older drivers to remain safe and confident, and the elderly to retain their independence.

The AARP program will cover automobile technology and changes over time. It will review basic rules of the road and cover new laws. Drivers will receive additional training with roundabouts, pavement markings, stop-sign compliance, red-light running and other safety issues such as speeding, seatbelts and turn signal usage.

When completed, participants will receive a Department of Motor Vehicle Certificate for discounts on automobile insurance.

The cost of the two-part class is only $15 for AARP members, and $20 for non-members. To register for the course call 310-285-6840.
