Sunday evening was all about Santa Claus as the Rodeo Drive Committee and The City of Beverly Hills Hosted the annual Lighting Ceremony.
Guests included celebrity DJ Michelle Pesce, Emcee Giuliana Rancic, The Beverly Hills High School Norman Marching Band and Cheerleaders, Actress, Author and Jazz Singer Molly Ringwald, Debbie Allen’s Hot Chocolate Nutcracker dancers and – Santa and Mrs. Claus!
It all took place on Rodeo Drive, amidst the lavish boutiques and extraordinary Beverly Hills experience. Thousands came from throughout the region to enjoy that special holiday thrill that comes every year. But nothing is better than the holidays in Beverly Hills.
Throughout the evening DJ Michelle Pesce lit up the holidays with music.
Giuliana Rancic, delightfully cute and holiday-sweet, greeted every guest with a smile, beginning with Mayor Julian Gold, Vice Mayor John Mirisch and Councilmembers Lili Bosse and Willie Brien, as well as Rodeo Drive Committee President Mark Tronstein.
The evening kicked off with the City’s beloved Norman Marching Band, looking wonderfully winter despite the 80-degree evening temperatures. Behind them, Santa and Mrs. Claus followed in their souped-up automobile-sleigh, followed by a gang of merry elves.
Debbie Allen’s Nutcracker dancers hip-hopped to a new rhythm, rapping the old favorite in candy cane colors to the delight of the audience, followed by star Molly Ringwald.
Then all it took was Ringwald’s rendition of “Let it Snow.” Suddenly thousands of pieces of confetti filled the sky and fluttered to the ground like snow, California-style. And Santa Claus turned on the lights, marking the official opening of the holiday shopping season.
