The Beverly Hills City Council will be examining the feasibility of an autonomous vehicle program within the City to provide driverless transportation to residents for “first and last mile” issues related to the Metro Purple Line Extension into Beverly Hills, to relieve traffic congestion on short trips, aid senior residents in local mobility solutions, and create visionary options that could place the City in the lead for technological vision.
City staff has prepared a work plan with the long term goal of making these “autonomous vehicles” (AV) available.
Mirisch’s ambitions include the possibility of possible grant opportunities for the program, outreach to AV manufacturers for potential partnerships and hosting an AV-focused forum in Beverly Hills.
