Every Monday is truly an adventure with Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse and this week, Walk with the Mayor participants will help her plant a tree in Roxbury Park!
In April, the City’s annual Arbor Day celebration was postponed due to high winds. That event has been happily rescheduled as a Walk with the Mayor event, so that an even bigger audience can participate in the festivities.
The mayor and members of the Public Works and Recreation and Parks Commissions will break ground to plant Chinese Elm trees and a Pink Flowering Trumpet tree. Children from the Roxbury Park Pre-School will entertain. The Arbor Day event is open to everyone and is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and will take place on the west side of the park adjacent to the alley.
Beverly Hills has been recognized consistently for 32 years as a Tree City USA Award recipient, and the City is very proud of their green heritage. It is so fitting that this event would be part of the mayor’s Healthy City initiative, celebrating the health of the City as expressed through our precious trees.
Walk with the Mayor is part of Mayor Bosse’s Healthy City initiative (#BHHealthyCity), aimed at making Beverly Hills the world’s healthiest community physically, spiritually, in business and – in the environment.
Over 200 community members regularly participate in the walks, meeting every Monday at 8:30 a.m. on the Crescent steps of City Hall. Everyone is invited! Come and put on an orange a #BHHealthyCity hat and tee-shirt, and join the fun! Wear good walking shoes, bring the kids, the dog and some water. This walk is 2.6 miles.
In addition to great exercise, Walk with the Mayor is an opportunity to meet your neighbors, network with the community, explore new parts of the City with the Mayor and knowledgable City staff and Commissioners, and to meet Beverly Hills’ most popular mayor in an informal setting for a chat and a walk. Nothing could be a better way to start your week on a Monday!
“Monday is my favorite day,” says Mayor Bosse, every Monday. And she means it!
