After a prolonged negotiation that has taken many turns, the Beverly Hills City Council approved the Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) with the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) in a 4-1 vote, increasing the cost from $9.7 million to $10.5 million and increasing incrementally through 2020.
Councilmember John Mirisch was the only “nay” vote, though several councilmembers expressed reservations about the agreement and the political gymnastics that led up to it.
