Come sit with me for awhile and see what I’m bringing to the table …
A little of this and a little of that, but in the end it really seems to be all about that extra something.
I liken tablescaping to that of driving down a country road hoping to find adventure. You all know the kind of road I’m talking about—off the beaten path, where each turn may bring a new, and exciting, “out of left field” twist to the landscape. I approach each and every one of my table settings with the same excitement as a road trip. Hop aboard while I take you on a short journey and show you how to add that extra touch, that unexpected surprise, that “I didn’t see it coming” table setting—thinking out-of-the-box.
One of the in-your-face subtle, but meaningful twists is in the first photo here. For those of you who have paid attention and zeroed in on one of my change-of-landscape twists —bravo. It is amazing how one delicately etched sherry glass, set amidst such a rustic setting can add not only sparkle, but curiosity, speculation, anticipation, and that much-sought-after query—when, and what are you serving in that? Hmmm—patience my curious guests— dinner has only just begun.
The second photo highlights this setting even further, by mixing candle colors, height and different types of holders that draw out some of the rustic tones used on this table. My black and copper rooster is the visual signal that “autumn is here;” and I’m sticking to my story, even though it’s 89 degrees today.
