The volunteer grassroots committee of CivicCare, in partnership with Beth Jacob, will hold a live debate with candidates for the 33rd Congressional District—L.A. Deputy District Attorney Elan Carr and Democratic State Senator Ted Lieu—from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Beth Jacob Congregation, 9030 W. Olympic Blvd.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, will moderate the discussion on issues relating to the Jewish community and beyond.
Carr and Lieu are vying for the seat left open by retiring Congressman Henry Waxman. The 33rd district stretches from L.A’s South Bay up the coast to Malibu and from Santa Monica through Brentwood, Bel Air, Beverly Hills and into Hancock Park.
The election will be Tuesday, Nov. 4.
No candidates are being endorsed and no political parties are involved in the event, co-sponsored by The Westside JCC, the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Young Israel of Century City, Temple Kol Ami, Temple Emanuel, and more than 20 other groups.
The event is free, but RSVP’s are required to www.bethjacob.org/debate.
