A public presentation of the Beverly Hilton Specific Plan Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Public Scoping meeting will be held at the Municipal Gallery at City Hall Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
The Beverly Hilton Specific Plan was approved and the Environmental Impact Report was certified in 2008. The plan included the demolition of parts of the structure and the existing parking structure, renovation of the Beverly Hilton Wilshire Tower, pools and cabanas and the construction of parking to accommodate 2,183 vehicle, an 8-story 36-unit condominium building and an 18-story, 74-unit building; the construction of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (completed) and a 22,000 sf Beverly Hilton Conference Center.
The Modified Project that will be presented Tuesday evening includes consolidating the two residential towers into one 23-story residential building; changing the configuration of the pool, open space and restaurants, and modifying the distribution of the conference center space.
The Draft Supplemental EIR is available for viewing during the 30-day comment period which began May 18 and extends to June 18.
The Scoping Meeting is to present the Modified Project in a public setting with the opportunity for a full airing of the environmental issues that are important to the community. Following a presentation of the project, interested members of the community will be encouraged to comment on their views concerning the environmental issues that are important to the community.
The oral and written comments made during the scoping meeting will provide an inventory of potential environmental effects of the Modified Project to be addressed by the Draft Supplemental EIR.
